Team USA’s mens soccer crew is preparing for a friendly matchup with Columbia on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. that will be taking place at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California
The USMNT is being conducted on the sidelines by its interim coach, Anthony Hudson, and lost a game to Serbia who beat them 2-1 on Wednesday. It was FC Cincinnati striker Brandon Vasquez’s debut and he scored in the 29th minute of the match via a header that was assisted by Julian Gressel.
Despite the loss, USMNT still outperformed the Serbs for most of the competition, maintaining 62% possession of the ball throughout the course of the game. The team also got off 20 shots compared to Serbia’s 11.
Some things to note are that the Americans will be competing without their standout player and Hershey, Pa. native, Christian Pulisic. Weston McKennie also will not be present in the matchup with the Columbians
Columbia has a lot of youngsters on its squad with some fresh legs who can really run the field and make an impact on the trajectory of this game with their savvy style of play. The team has now won six straight matches and 23-year-old Cucho Hernandez has scored two goals for the Columbians in his last two matches.
